In spring 2026, Ph.D. candidate Mohammadjavad Ghorbanalivakili spent about three months in Seoul, Korea, as a visiting researcher at Hanyang University, hosted by Prof. Joonho Ko.
The visit is part of a Korea–Canada joint research project on sidewalk delivery robots. On the Korean side, the project brings together Hanyang University, the Seoul Institute and the delivery-robot company Neubility, with funding from KAIA. On the Canadian side, the AUSM Lab at York University leads the research.
The project studies how delivery robots and people share the sidewalk. The team collects robot driving logs and pedestrian trajectories in real streets. In April 2026, the team ran a field observation survey in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, where Neubility robots operate.
During his stay, Mohammadjavad also visited Neubility's office in Seoul. He saw their robot fleet up close and talked with their engineers about the robots' sensors and driving data.

This exchange helps the lab build pedestrian-aware perception for delivery robots, using real data from Korean streets.
