The Lassonde School of Engineering featured our lab’s work on the autonomous train.
Prof. Gunho Sohn’s team works toward trains that can sense their surroundings and act on their own, instead of relying only on track infrastructure and human operators. Working with Thales Canada and Lumibird Canada, the team built a camera and LiDAR sensing system and tested it on a 16 km track.
“This has been one of the best projects in my academic life,” said Prof. Sohn.
